I have seen the acumotion setup and had a set of motor mounts from them. The
motor mounts were functional, but not spectacular. I just upgraded a
Sherline mill and lathe to CNC using the factory Sherline motor mounts and
they are 1000% better engineered and well worth the money. The drives on the
acumotion are dated. The base unipolar drive is well past it's prime and
definitely not worth the price being charged. The upgraded bipolar is just
too expensive when you compare it to the cost of getting Gecko drives
instead. The software is proprietary and while functional the version I saw
was not spectacular. All in all I would suggest passing on this one.

Flashcut gets good reviews, but is very high dollar for what you get. You
may want to contact Dan Mauch at Camtronics as he was doing a very nice job
with a box that had Gecko drives and a power supply in it. Just add that to
some factory Sherline motor mounts and motors that Dan can provide and pick
one of the software packages and I bet you would save 30 - 50% off the
Flashcut price and have a better set-up with virtually no investment in
time.
