The setup information about the drive parameters for steps per inch,
starting speed, and acceleration are not too difficult to set, and there are
plenty of people on this list with similar machines (me for example) that
are willing to help you if you go that route.

The real advantage of putting the pieces together yourself is in your
ability later to trouble shoot and fix whatever problems arise. TurboCNC is
a perfectly fine choice for controlling your mill, and is very easy to get
going on even the most out-dated computer.

I built Dan Mauch's 2A driver board, and am about to bring a second mill
on-line and am considering his complete new kit with the three drivers
(maybe four) and the powersupply and box all in one. I would recommend
going this route, but I do not know all of the details of your situation.
