It is just that simple.
2-3 or 4 10,000 caps in parallel and you have the sum of the total of
the caps.
It is usually MUCH cheaper to do it that way. A 10,000uF/50V cap
from JAMECO is only about $5.00 US, and if you can find a large
35,000 or 40,000 cap it will be way more than 4 times the price.
I'm not saying you can't use one 10,000 cap, but I find that if you
follow what the pro's lay down as guidelines (ie: Mariss about
Gecko's) you can't go wrong.
As you see, there are some on here that feel a single cap is fine.
And since you only have a 36VDC supply, you certanly get by with a
50V cap(s)
My question would be if the recommended 470uF cap on the power
connection at the Gecko's is now REQUIRED ? if you are going less
than the book values?
