Resolution.

if you are directly connected to a 10 TPI leadscrew with a 200 step
per rev motor. 2,000 steps per inch.


if you half step, you get a theoretical 0.00025" resoltuion on the
now 4,000 steps per inch. but you need twice the pulse rate to move
as fast. the same pulse rate will be half as fast.

a 10x microstepping drive will make your 200 step per revoltuion to a
2,000 step per revolution times 10 tpi, or 20,000 steps (and pulses)
per inch. or 10 TIMES slower than single step.

but... *Theoretically* 1/20,000 = some fantastic but unachievable
accuracy .

so you have the ability to chose the step mode on the gecko that best
fits your desired table resolution. My rule of thumb is to try to be
4 times more accurate. so if you want to be +/- 0.001" you need to
be able to control to 0.00025".
