As a less than satisfied bobcad customer for a few years now, I'd
recommend you get some opinions from some of the other guys here and
think seriously about something else. I've had 15, 16, and 17.
Still use 17 because I know the glitches and decided not to go to 18
under the assumption that it would have a new and undiscovered set
of problems. In my experience, each new release of bobcad attempts
to fix some of the more glaring problems of the previous release,
and then adds some new features with a new set of problems. IMO,
bobcad sells what most reputable software companies would distribute
freely to existing customers in the form of patches and fixes. The
documentation is sketchy at best, because theres big bucks in
selling you the "training videos", which are actually the
instructions for use. I haven't even looked at 19. Maybe it's
better, but I'm going on past experience. One thing's for sure
though. You can buy it for less than the asking price. Some of
their sales are priced at 395 and some at 295. I got an email from
them a couple weeks ago offering 19 at 195. I'd say anyone who
happens to want it can get the same deal, regardless of whether
you're an existing customer or not. Just make them an offer and
don't worry about insulting them with a low one. Over time, you'll
wish you could reach thru the phone and choke their telemarketers.
They also seem to have a branch in FLA and another in CAL, and they
appear to operate independently from each other. Try both for
prices if you're in the market to buy.
