Dan,
It's perfectly true.
When you are starting to write the Cam program you have to select
your tool but previously to this you have had to draw an offset path
for the tool to follow.
Why ??????????
If you select an 1/2" cutter is it asking a very powerful PC in the
21st century to be able to work out that you need to add or subtract
1/4" from the profile depending on whether you are doing an inner or
outer profile.
And this is in the first few lines of any program, in other words a
basic move.
Is it also asking too much to fill in an approach and depart move
automatically with different alternatives to suit the shape of the
job.
After all these moves aren't part or tolerant critical as they are
either air cut or into the scrap part of the work.
Lastly is this mid 18th century routine of having to define the way
parts are draw to the way they are cut. Originally introduced by the
Flat Earth society and incorporated into Bobcad and Vector.
If you select a closed entity, select a start point and the side to
start cutting what other way can the cutter go ??
It has to start at the start point go the way you have said to the
finish point, no other way so why bother with the arrors and way it
was drawn.

I still say until the basics are dealt with it only makes the program
harder and more confusing to use.
