Thank you Marcus.
These folks are talking about manual machines which have been
retrofitted, so let's assume that the location of the handwheels is
not too much a problem... Because you can put the motor on
the "other" end of a table, which will keep the X HW where
you're "used to". And the Y HW might be a bit closer, but still in
the same general area. BUT...
The added drag of the motors is gonna affect the "feel", AND the
probability of ballscrews--compared to the original acme's, in most
cases, is gonna further the difference...
One more thing to be addressed is whether the retrofit has left hand
threads where the manual machine used them. This is pretty important
for someone who has manual experience; because if the cheaper RH
screws are used in the retrofit, ther's likely to be a bunch of
wrecked parts when the "manually used" cnc retrofit doesn't "turn"
the "right" way...
