What is wrong with 1000IPM rapids? :-)

The encoder on 10-1843 has 200 lines (800 quadrature counts). The metal
disc is mounted on a bronze bush with a 5mm hole. It is a light press
fit on the motor shaft but pops off easily enough with the application
of a little pressure. Just be careful to catch it so you don't end up
flicking it across the workshop like I did ;-) They are certainly a
cheap source for an encoder.

With servos it is better to run them under voltage rather than over.
Over voltage/speed will lead to a seriously shortened life. Under
voltage will only reduce top speed.

If you know anyone who is scrapping the paper tape drive out of a BOSS5
Bridgeport, the reel motors are an ideal size for a small/medium sized
plasma and are NEMA 23 face mount.

The biggest difficulty with surplus motors is that they often don't have
the ratings marked on them.
