I've heard a lot of good things about Rhino and Visualmill, but my
problem is two-fold -- visualmill alone is prohibitively expensive
and I won't have lathe support.
I would really like to have a parametric modeling program, but I need
the cam more. What I would like is a Cam program that you can draw
simple models like lathe stuff and 2.5d milling. That is the way
FeatureCam worked, you could import fancy surface models into it, but
you could do an awful lot just in the Cam software. I also need the
software to be fairly intuitive and easy to learn, as the NC machine
is in my father's basement and I want him to be able to use it as
well.
