Tim
I can attest to the truth of this statement, 'cause I didn't follow them
the first time. I wanted dual boot and it took me a couple of days to
figure out how.
If I was setting up a new machine right now, and all I had to do with the
controller is copy in part-program files from a floppy, or ftp, I'd still
use RH 5.2, Tim's install script, and a November or December release of EMC.
The only thing I'd add would be the part of the most recent revision that
we put up on linuxcnc.org so that I could view a backplot and run scripts
from tkemc.
Maybe if we beg, Dave would make up a bunch more of the cdrom's that he had
at names, or send them out for copies. Everything is there for excellent
motion control. With that system, (yes it is) linux quickly becomes nearly
invisible.
It's those of us that insist on screwing with it that create many of the
EMC problems that we read about here.
