Red Hat seems to make its partitions in a strange order, and I have
seen it place the /boot at the end of a disk, and for large disks that
wont work. Lilo can only boot if the partition is less than 1024
cylinders into the disk.

Use the option to make your own partitions, make /boot on hda1.
