Imbedded computers

I stumbled across an article about Dashboard computers that were being made
from easily available computers made for imbedded operations in machinery
etc. I am not knowledgaboe enough to know if they would have any application
for our Home CNC projects.

The links above show specific projects/products, however there are computers
like them made for inbedding in machinery etc.
Anyone want to take a look and see if they would be an answer to anyones
problems, such as the ELS project?
