I would suggest doing some testing before spending a lot of time building a
control unit using the VIA Mini-ITX board running Machn. I built up a nice
unit for my using one and found that it locked up when attempting to run
Mach2. There have been several other reports on the Mach list of the same
results. Art (of Machn fame) has mentioned that he heard someone who was
successful, but I haven' found any reference. This may have been someone
using a VIA brand PC (which uses the Intel chipset). If a solution could be
found, it would be a nice board. Mine is 1Ghz with 1G memory and runs
Mach2/3 just find as long as I don't load the driver. Once the GREX project
stabilizes, I will be going back to the Mini-ITX board driving it using the
Ethernet connection.

Here is a large picture of a VIA EPIA motherboard. It has ALL of the
ports that a regular computer has and more. All you need to add is a
hard drive, ram and a power supply. This board costs $150.00 and don't
forget, it's only 6.69" x 6.69" square. I think a welded diamond plate,
powder coated home-made case would be cool. And the power supply's can
be bought in a version that allows for 12 volt vehicle battery
operation. Will even work during the voltage drop caused by starting
the car engine.
