I like the AMP CPC connectors. These are bayonet locking plastic
connectors, with crimped gold pins. The only downside is the crimping
tool is VERY expensive (about $90). There may be a cheaper crimper
that will work, such as a Molex.

many people have used 5-pin XLR connectors, although they generally don't
have gold. I prefer gold for long-term reliability. Some people also use
DB-9 or DB-15 connectors, which are quite good, and can be had
inexpensively.
