I've had great results with microphone plugs. They have a screw locking
collar and you can get them up to 8 or 9 way. I use the extra pins to allow
me to unplug a whole axis, including limit switches. The 4 pin ones are
good for lot's o amps and are easy to solder.

On the flipside, I've had some bad experiences with DIN-5 connectors just
coming apart on me. A buddy reckons they'd be OK if you bought premade
leads with moulded connectors and just cut one end off though...
