I wouldn't personally use the D-type connectors for step motor power - the
pins & solder buckets are too small to take the size of conductor that you
are likely to use (should use) for wiring up steppers & the close spacing
between the pins seems to be a recipe for creating shorts. Can't say I am
too keen on them for signal connection either, unless I can use the IDC
varieties to avoid having to solder them.
