Dennis Bohlke has had a 1 or 2 TPI leadscrew on the router kit made
from filled epoxy castings" at his website for at least 4 years...

I found it interesting back then and ran the numbers (he had low
voltage drives at the time as well.)

Efficiency of high lead acme style screws is vastly improved over
the typical 5 or 10TPI we typically see. Cjeck out the numbers at
www.nookind.com

If you go to Wal-mart or Staples you might see the dogtag engravers
that sit by the door. These will have multi-start high-lead screws.

As will most commercial CNC engravers.

So it's pretty well known, IF you look...
