B,
I thought it would be nice to share some of the successes I've had with others on the group(s). Mostly all I think have enjoyed them. A few seem to have a problem with it. It was not my intent to start a flame with anyone, I apologize for that. It was to show what can be done with whats available to us hobbyists. If you're "Wow'd" by it great. Personally, I'm wow'd by it. It's nice to show activity to go along with words occasionally. If I had gotten on here and said "Hey guess what, my router has 1800 ipm rapids" Do you think a few would want me to prove it? I do, thats why I posted a video.
Getting back to the close up of the engraving. I'm as close as I wish to get with my digital camera around a cutter I could in no way outrun. I'll see what I can do though.
In the past, it's been almost demanded that I disclose fully, every feature of it's construction. That would be like me suggesting that every vendor on the groups disclose all of their contacts and sources for items they provide to hobbyists. And while there at it post all their wiring diagrams and PCB files for their boards, including source codes for firmware. And when they resist, insinuate they aren't in this for the good of the hobby. Would that be fair? Everyone has a right to privacy and intellectual property to a certain degree..
I will say this, the good news, it's an low-cost machine to build which means the retail price will be low. The bad news, it's not an easy machine to build.
The good thing about showing and not explaining is: It makes folks think, it's great all the new ideas that have cropped up. Puts the speculation outside the "box", thats good for all of us, and the hobby.
Thanks for your input, Ron

I've operated 1100IPM machining centers.
Also others--not machining centers-- at even faster rates. (sail
plotters for example)
your project Seems a nice machine. (What you've let us see, at
least.)
But high speed cnc operation is NOT new to me.
So I'm asking specific questions about what I'm looking at...
I'm NOT asking about corner rounding...
I DO understand the effects of higher acceleration...
I'm asking to SEE a close up of the CUT at these various rates
you're showing.
I've already asked about:
linear guide type?
steppers vs. servo's?
Ballscrew, rack/pinion other?
If the only purpose of showing us this is to WOW us, then okay.
Wow.
Care to give any answers to the questions asked?
Ballendo
P.S. I HAVE described my wood ducks and roadrunners in great detail.
I have chosen not to share pictures yet. When I do, there will be no
closeups only and blue tape.
(But of course my machines have absolutely NOTHING to do
with asking you questions about what you've decidesd to show us.)
The machines are quite obviously designed for different market
segments. I'm not planning 1800IPM wood ducks...
