I remember someone, I think on Turbo-CNC list, that ran the serpitine
path for dilling holes. Was looking to improve speed and trying
different things. one thing they tried was to rapid back and always
start cutting from the same end. counter-intuitive. they picked up
about 15% in over all speed of machining.

I don't have the facts, just a vague memory, I think he was doing
jewelery, and I don't remember the specifics, but what stuck was that
one should try different ways to see if there is any rhyme or reason
to make a thing work better/faster than you would expect.
