Not exactly sure what you are asking. I have not
seen a frequency rating on steppers. Stepper motors
generally respond in terms of full step equivalents.
That is, torque vs. speed tracks full steps so running
8 microsteps would allow/require 8 times the step rate
into the driver.

Microstepping typically allows the motor to be run
faster. This is because one of the limiting factors
is resonance of the motor. If one were to drive the
motor with a pure sine wave, then the resonance
would happen only at the frequency that matched the
resonant frequency of the motor. When a non-sine
wave drive is applied there is energy at frequencies
other than the main step rate that can excite the
resonance. This is very true for full step modes as
they are a poor approximation of a sine wave. The
more microsteps that the full step is divided into
the less energy is provided at other freqencies. If
you have ever had square waves explained as the sum
of the fundamental and all its odd numbered harmonics
you will recognize the source of the problem.
