I had pretty much planned out how to take a file with component
& feeder locations and another file with part placement data and
generate the G-code to run a simple machine.
My machine is 5' x 7' and weighs 1600 Lbs or so. I got the
electronic guts of another (compatible) machine, plus 50
feeders, plus a vibratory feeder base. There is a program that
can use CAD data to set up the machine. The guy who sold it to
me said he never used it, he just uses the teach camera.
If you haven't communicated with Nicholas Benezan, he has built
a complete machine himself. It has one head, changeable nozzles
and alignment fingers. It is working. He was working on
automatic feeders as the next project.
