[CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Isolation Transformer Suggestion

A simple isolation transformer can be made using a control transformer -
you know the ones used to step down 240 or 440 to 120volts. Use the one that
has a split primary that is set in series for 440 or parallel for 240. Just
feed
120 volts into one set of the primary winding and connect the load to the
other primary winding. You don't use the secoundary at all - in fact the one
I use has the secoundary burned-out. There is a slight voltage drop but that
generally doesn't matter.
I set mine up with a standard 120v plug and cord and a duplex outlet mounted
on the side of the transformer. I use it anytime I'm trouble shooting an
'unknown'
device. If I need lower voltage I just plug the transformer into a Variac
and have
isolated voltage from 0 - 130v. REMEMBER - Variacs are NOT ISOLATED from
earth ground!!!
