I have one of these, darn handy. But I've been thinking,
a very dangerous thing for me, that this is just a
battery and a light. The contact is the center probe,
isolated electrically from the body, coming in contact
with the work. (It doesn't work on plastics.)

Now, could one bring the wires out, treat them as a
contact switch, and run a signal from them into a parallel
port? Then the trick would be for the software to monitor
this signal and use it for probing. What do you think. :-)

I've read that EMC now has probing? However, I have no
idea how the probe is connected and monitored. Is anyone
familiar with this function of EMC? Do any other packages
support probing?
