How would you do that? It seems to me either the workpiece or the
spindle must somehow be insluated so you can close that connection to
make the led glow. I assume the commercial ones have the battery in the
center, with one end connected to the spindle, The other end 'grounds
out' when it hits the workpiecee.

I like my old 'top hat' style edge finder. It makes a clean jump right
at the point of contact, and Im sure there is no deflection of the
finder.
