Another of the rapid 3d prototyping machines can be found at
http://www.formus.com/ Uses sand with a scanned head releasing wax to
bind it together. Resolution is in the 0.01" range, not too bad given
the current machine has a capacity of 11x6x4 FEET.

Primary aplication is to make a plug to pull a fiberglass mold
from. Current speed claimed is 1 sq ft of surface, in 10 minutes.
Example given (hot tub, about 80 sq feet of surface) took 12 hours.

The resultant constructions aren't particularly
transportable. (refrigerated truck required)

They don't talk about selling finished machines, seem to want to
function as a service only. They don't quote rates on their site.
