I believe this is my first post to this group, and that depends on that I haven't been able to give any help since I'm not very experienced at CNC yet.
However I'm in the process of building a small a CNC Mill to do PCB's and other small stuff. And for this reason I've designed a driver using the L297/L298 IC's (based on the datasheets).
The driver uses automatic current reduction and you can adjust both the idle and run currents. It have inputs for step, dir, sync, and stand by (all windings off).
I have schematics (in .JPG) and PCB Layout (in EAGLE-format). I will be happy to send it to you (or anybody else) if you want it.
Please note that this driver is made for my personal use and not for production. Therefor I haven't made any extensive testing and the layout of the board may not be the most optimal. BUT it works pretty good.

If you just want simple a schematic for a driver, download the datasheet for the L297 and 298.
