I saw a rapid prototype machine on tv that uses sheets of paper as a medium.
It puts 1 sheet in place, then cuts the shape with a laser. sets another new sheet
on top and repeats the process. They didn't get into the mechanics of the machine
so I'm not sure how the paper sticks to the previous sheet, or how they keep the
laser from cutting only the top sheet, but it recreated a real nice human skull from
some MRI type data. Almost looked like it could be home built.
