The most important thing to check here is if the kernels
you are trying to load have SCSI support permanently
compiled into the kernel. If SCSI is only a loadable
option module, it won't be able to boot on a system
with a SCSI hard drive. What you can do is boot
from the floppies, and use the 'rescue' mode to gain
access to the disk, and check the options in your kernel
config file. The default kernel from the raw install should
have the SCSI support installed. Finally, if you forgot
(I've done this) you need to run lilo after any change
to the lilo config file that sets up the bootable kernels.
