Chris, thanks for the response. RTlinux and linux
both fail at the same spot. I had to modify the
lilo.conf file, to be compatible with my scsi hdisk,
changed the hda to sda, and then it started to the
halt point.

would be that lilo did not get installed properly (it is supposed to
tell the kernel what disk the rest of linux should be loaded off of).
Did you leave yourself an option to boot the old kernel? If so, or if
you know how to go in from a rescue disk then you can probably fix it -
but using the rescue disk takes some knowledge of linux, in particular
a familiarity with the mount command.
