I am also trying to get pmthing useful from <emc on a 133 machine. Is it
possible to get a closer look to your ini file? I can't get any torque from
my 2A steppers (bipolar L297/298 driver) .

It sounds to me like you are trying to run freqmod.o on a machine that won't
handle it. Try it with steppermod.o for motion control and make sure the
PERIOD parameter is commented out in the emc.ini file.

You must run EMC and root, although I think someone figured out what
permissions to change to make this happen. The real time stuff must run as
root or have setuid permission set.

I just run mine as root with steppermod.o for the steppers on a 266mhz
machine. I was running it on a 133 Pentium laptop with steppermod.o for the
motion control program and that worked fine on my Sherline mill.
