Hey Gene, congrats

Like Tim says you can use Xconfigurator or setup in a plain terminal window.
You might boot the system and let it start up then press <control><alt> and
one of the function keys between 1 and 6 and you will get a whole new
terminal into the kernel. Log in there as root and enter setup and then
select Xconfigurator. The program will let you try out various combinations
of your driver chips and monitor using the test configuration button. When
you find the one you want complete the Xconfigurator and logout there
<control>D, change back to the graphical screen <control><alt> F7 and restart
the x windows system from the login prompt.

The minimum limit exceeded answer depends on whether the axis position
letters are red when you start the emc.
