The difference between peak and continuous is much like it sounds. You can
run the motor at the continuous torque all day long and it will not harm the
motor. Peak torque is the maximum the motor can output for a brief period of
time. There is a duty cycle associated with the peak torque and if you start
to exceed it than the motor will start to overhead and cause damage.
Probably a good rule of thumb is to not use the peak more than 10% of the
time.
