There are scopes for rent, but they're pretty expensive. You can pick
up an older scope on eBay for a few hundred bucks - rental of a modern
one will run you between $300 and $1000 per month. (from places like
www.electrorent.com www.avalonnet.com www.techrecovery.com )

Can you go to 28 IPM on a 45deg. move? You should be able to, since the
individual axis feed rate would be 20 IPM.
I think if you can't reliably go > 20IPM on a 45, then the problem isn't
with the Geckos.

Since the Geckos are totally independent of one another, the feed rate
on one should have no effect on the others. The power supply, control
software, and step hardware are shared, so one of those would have to be
at fault.
