Hi, well i have worked on many steppers with good luck. i use .002 steel
shim stock and make a thin tube slightly bigger than the od of the rotor. i
slide the rotor into the tube from the housing. you can slide the tube back
to get at 1/2 the rotor and slide the other way to clean the second half. I
use an osha nozzle with a .01 slit and 170 psi, if its rust a stiff
toothbrush with a small amount of mystery oil will help. make sure you wipe
off good with a lint free rag. If the magnet is real strong i make a wooden
ring to fit the end of the motor, helps prevent more damage. you must make a
good clamp to hold the housing so you can work the magnet rotor with 2
hands. a vise will ruin the motor but a 2 piece wood clamp with jaws bored
to od of motor and lined with tire tube rubber will hold nicely. Dont blow
all the special greese out of the bearings tho! cul brian f.
