Loctite bearing setting compound works quite well when combined with pinning
or knurling the bearing bore. Pinning (making punch marks in the bore) is
done with a sharp center punch and really just holds the bearing in place
while the resin cures. The resin provides the load bearing area.

Our rebuild shop uses this repair method on a daily basis to get more life
out of indexers, cam boxes and gear drives. When we get them back for
another rebuild the bearings are still seated.

This repair works best (for us) on low speed applications. A step motor
seems like a perfect candidate.
