Cheaper isn't the only thing: you can't get inside mikes in those sizes.
I've used tele-snaps for decades now. One thing I noticed fairly early on,
is they nearly always read a bit large, about .0005 as a rule and maybe a
bit more even. And this is not because of bad technique; other machinists
have also commented on that.
