Erik,
Another thing to consider - I recall a colleague mentioning that there
is a Loctite product which is designed for taking up slack in a loose
bearing housing mount. I seem to recall it could take up 1-2 thou but
not much more. I have no idea what its product # is but you might check
their website and email them a tech question.
Another radical thought, don't you have a cnc mill? Why not remake the
entire end cap?
