Because of the odd shapes of the pieces I was using I had been boring
my bearing seats with a boring head in my mill. My biggest problems
with tight tolerances really have been tool deflection and the fact
that I don't have guage blocks or even a real internal micrometer.
I finally went out and bought a proper sized reamer to get the hole
size exactly right. This cut down on the number of "rigged" bearing
seats I had to tolerate.
Thanks for the advice. I'll keep my eye out for an internal knurling
tool. I don't know that I really need one, but it sounds kind of
neat.
