Hi John;
That sounds like something which could be done.
I have temporarily joined the EMCO group and made a few posts there,
I have had a couple of replies but I believe that the EMCO way may
not be feasible for a sherline retrofit.
I have had a look at the pics for the EMCO on their web site and as
you face the front of the machine, there is a round drum about 350
mm dia which is attached to the Z axis. I have copied the picture to
the pics directory (emcochanger.jpg).
This drum has the tools protruding out I guess every 30 degrees and
the whole drum rotates, I believe that this would not be very do-
able as a retrofit!
What I have in mind is to use the Sherline End Mill Holders
(http://www.sherline.com/3079pg.htm) as the quick change tool
holders and somehow have a carousel off to the side which offers the
tools up to the spindle, removes one and replaces with another.
Not as simple as that I know, but in my mind it seems a bit easier
than the EMCO approach.
I'd like to see some pics, diagrams etc of these robo drills if any
one has them, maybe that will give me some inspiration !
Regards
