Fred,
Re: MAX NC claims 50 IPM with these servos on my Sherline screws,
but I haven't verified it. Motors are warm, but not unconfortable
to the touch - haven't measured temperature. Yes, the Sherline
dealer sold me from Sherline a 5400-CNC ready mill with the fancy
adjustable handwheels for $660 (I put the wheels on my 10 yr old
Sherline 4000 lathe) and also the MAX NC servo kit for $826.90.
They still offer these items at these prices. I paid shipping from
the respective factories (don't remember the cost, it was a UPS
economy service). I've tried the DOS setup, encoder and mill on
both of my Win XP computers (Win XP Home and Win XP Pro) no
problem. One thing, though, I want to remove as many background
programs off the system tray as I can because there is a slight
hesitation in travel if one of the programs runs, although I don't
lose any apparent dimensions (maybe because it's closed-loop).
