They are generally rated by voltage and then Kva or Kv. Why dont they say
just Voltage and Amperage?<<
KVA simply means "Thousand Volt-Amps". KV simply means Kilovolts. Some
transformers handle THOUSANDS of volts in or out. If a transformer is about 6"
on a side, it would handle about 1 to 2 THOUSAND Volt-Amps. It is easier to
write "1 KVA". Simple!
