///??? They don't? My Bridgeport originally had steppers. An old Allen-bradley system with slo-syn steppers. The only thing reliable about it was if I exceeded 40 ipm on X and 20 ipm on Y it would skip and I could rely on it trashing the workpiece. Z drive board was fried so many times, I didnt even consider it as a 3 axis machine anymore. I'm sure there are systems that work fine. As long as the feeds are kept at very low rates. They are simpler to build and usually cost less.
They just make parts and and make money for people.
