Good answer Less, but i will throw in a example here just to make it
simple...

1KVA = 1000VA
a VA is volt amps.
P or power is amps x volts, so VA is like saying watts...
now we have 1KVA = 1000 watts.
I or current in amps = P or power in watts / E or voltage in volts.
so a 1KVA or 1000 watt transformer at 80 volts has...
1000 / 80 = 12.5 amps
