Brady,

MPG is just a name for a manual pulse generator. Actually it is a Quadrature
Encoder. Our breakout board has a connector that you can connect to a
Quadrature Encoder.

In Mach2 there is a function for the MPG.

What you would need to do is to put a Quadrature Encoder in a small box with
a cable connected to the encoder connector on the breakout board.

Then when you need to lower the tip of the tool to the top of the material
you could take the MPG with the Quadrature Encoder to the mill or router and
cause it to lower the tool till it just touches the top of the material.
You can do the same thing with the keyboard, but having a small box with the
Quadrature Encoder would be a lot easier as you can take the Quadrature
Encoder to the tool.

I hope that explains it. I will be creating a drawing and user guide. We
are also thinking about marketing a Quadrature Encoder in a box with a
cable.

Thanks to Art for all the fine features in Mach2.
