GenericCADD is my favorite. it was purchased by AutoDesk and then
killed.

I believe the interface was so superior that AutoDesk purchased it to
kill it. The two letter command interface if the fastest I have seen
on any CAD package.

As for the use of TurboCAD, If I were starting out raw today, I would
think long and hard about that. it has very wide user base as well
as some reallly indepth tutorials. And, although it is an older
version, it is free. Newer verions you pay for.
