Chris,

The JVM-836 is a bigger mill than a RF. It weighs like 1600 lbs. It's referred to as a "Baby Bridgeport", looks just like one although scaled down a bit and obviously of lesser quality. Still a very good little machine though.

If you have an RF with a round column, I would definitely consider trading up to the RF-45? like Indutrial hobbies sells. With the dovetailed column. The round column is troublesome in that if the head needs to be moved during an operation, X and Y reference are lost. I sold mine on Ebay for $1k. Another problem with it is with heavy cutting, the head can slip radially on the round column. Not good. Having said all that, it made alot of parts as a manual machine.

Dan Mauch/Camtronics sells servos for that size machine. I was going to get these thru him and then the customer didnt want it, then he did, then he bought his own and it was one of those fun deals.

Hi Ron, That Jet 8 X 36, is that comparable in size / capacity to the
bench top Rong fu machines? I am hoping to retrofit mine later this
year. I have some really good servo drives for it and most of the
electricals. I don't have servos or screws yet.

Do you have a suggestion for servo motors for this size machine?

Thanks!

Chris
