all design requirements are simpler for single supply
unipolars. i have about 60 double shafted 116 oz in
ones- to me that's a good reason to design for em!
half stepping does actually give extra resolution in
realistic tolerance. microstepping 'extra resolution'
is spurious unless you actually calibrate each
microstep on each step of the stepper... ugh..
but, with microstepping- if done well, you will get a
stepper that's 'ALMOST AS SMOOTH AS A SERVO!!'
a lot of n00bs, go for specs simply cuz they have no
experience in using things for real jobs and f34r
inadequacy. there are ppl who insist they must have p3
color laptop to run turbocnc, too...
i do just fine with a unipolar and single stepping for
everything i've tried so far...
if you are giving things away cuz of 'embarassing'
specs- hey- i'm not embarassed to use something that
works!
