Graham,
Here's a super simple, effective solution:
Use a square bar, not rectangular.
I'm not sure if you have a lathe; but you could use your mill as
a "lathe" for parts like these.
Make 3 vee wheels which have two bearings each. Use one of the
following:
1.bore from each side to create a bearing seat.
2.use grooves and circlips to provide a seat for the bearings.
3.glue a spacer in the bore.
4.Use flanged bearings in a straight bore.
1 bar, 3 wheels. 6 skate bearings. 3- 8mm BHCS or SHCS as axles,
with washers and some loctite to adjust the two bearing per wheel
for preload. 1 roller plate, with one slotted hole to preload the
single wheel against the other two. Done.
Repeat three times.
Cheap, fast and capable.
