Anyone running a CNC machine without using a new or at least clean
format with ONLY the control software on it and no internet or other
connections deserves both arms ripping off and hitting with the soggy
ends.

In industry you go out and buy a new Fanuc, Hurco, Haas etc and
because the controller cost 10 grand it's the best thing since sliced
bread.
No one EVER complains that they can't read their email on it.

Now you have Mach3, DeskCNC etc that cost a couple of hundred dollars
and everyone and his dog wants to run a CNC, check email, draw the
next part, play games etc.

Most deserve what they get as regards problems but never blame themselves.
