I have to echo your comments regarding USPS and the extra costs when some
vendors will not use them.

In so far as the reliability of USPS, I have shipped literally hundreds of
kilos from the US firstly to Australia and also to Austria in Europe with
never an anxious moment.

What I have found though is that with UPS or FedEx, the shipper receives
some credit points for every item he sends, second they call by the vendors
every day and so there is no requirement for your vendor to take your parcel
to the Post Office. Fortunately most vendors of small items for export
understand the difference in costs to us, the end users; and will help us
there with USPS shipping. But for those that can't, unless they are the sole
source in the whole of North America for that item; I just withdraw my
order.

learnt a great deal from it. (Despite have to Google for an explanation on
some of the words) J
